The Teaching Over Time Evaluation Matrix (TOTEM) is personalised to the needs of the individual teacher allowing for strengths and areas of development to be recorded and tracked, providing the next steps to improvement, which can also be used to support performance management processes. Data taken from the system can be put straight into the SEF, school Improvement Plans and reports to Governors and other external agencies. It enables the SLT to provide an instant spot in time picture of the quality of teaching across the school or to consider specific aspects e.g. the quality of questioning or effectiveness of subject leadership.
